Arran Chemical Co Ltd was granted an Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) licence
from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in December 1996. One of the conditions
of the licence requires us to submit an Annual Environmental Report (AER) to the
EPA. The fourteenth AER was filed at the end of March 2011. All reports provided
by Arran to the EPA are available for inspection by any member of the public at
EPA, Office of Environmental Enforcement, Castlebar, Co. Mayo during normal office
hours. Copies of AERs may also be viewed at Arran by appointment. The AER is divided
into 4 sections: 1. Introduction This section provides an overview
of the company's activities, environmental policy and related matters. 2.
Summary Information Summary of monitoring and control data including
emissions to sewer, surface water monitoring, emissions to atmosphere, waste disposal
and energy and water usage are included in this section. 3. Management
Arran has established a schedule of Objectives and Targets, which is
reviewed annually. Besides individual aspects of the Environmental Management
Programme (EMP) which focus particularly on reducing one or other particular unit
process emissions, the programme also includes features designed to improve overall
environmental management and control. 4. Licence Specific Reports Toxicity testing of aqueous
effluent, groundwater monitoring data and other specific or occasional reports
are summarized in this section. Back
