• Having pre-registered our current products and key raw materials under the REACH regulation, we are currently in the period of forming (pre)SIEFS and welcome contact with interested parties. As a member of the European Fine Chemicals Group (EFCG) we have been active in discussions which are expected to lead to detailed practical guidance for the fine chemicals industry in relation to the requirement for Strictly Controlled Conditions (SCC) for manufacturing and usage of intermediates. We welcome any questions or comments.

• Arran is a member of TESS Research Consortium (www.reach-serv.com), supported by the European Commission under the FP6 Programme, which addresses implications of REACH for SMEs. We welcome contact from SMEs throughout the EU in relation to various aspects of the regulation, including guidance on intermediates, enforcement and other topics. • We are currently considering some further initiatives under the European Commission's FP7 Program, and would welcome contact, especially from SMEs, with particular interest in process or product safety.
